MuleSkinETTM, our exceptionally sturdy exterior fabric and MuleSkinEVTM, our tough interior layer, combine to create a rugged shell that protects against the elements and allows for superior ice retention.
Insulating foam keeps contents cold for up to 24 hours. Plus - only the IceMule's IM AirValveTM lets you add air for extra insulation.
This unique feature allows air to be added to the insulation layer (enhancing insulation) and releases air so the cooler can roll up for travel & storage.
Seems like decent quality. I haven't actually used it yet so I wasn't sure how many stars to give it. The quality seems pretty good but I think a hip belt would be a good addition. This is actually a replacement for a defective one I purchased on Amazon. This new one papers to have no defects and I'm anxious to use it. I plan to use it as a carry-on for air travel to carry clothing in while flying and then transfer the items into duffle bags and use the Ice Mule for a cooler while on vacation.
Works as advertised and though more expensive than traditional coolers still a fair value in my opinion because it is very well made.
There is no more convenient way to make rounds at a festival while retaining cold beverages than to carry an IceMule Cooler. And it turns heads
On a recent trip to The Needles District of Canyonlands National Park backpacking for four days with 3 friends, I filled this cooler with a 12-pack of beer, 6-pack of soda, a bunch of water, along with some oranges and a 7-lb bag of ice. We left the cooler sealed in the back seat of the car, for 4 days, basically in the middle of the desert. Upon our return, having depleted all the water we had carried with us, We we anxious to see how the cooler kept cold. We were absolutely elated to find that the Icemule had retained the Ice, and our victory beverages were about the best, ice-cold relief imaginable after our 4-day, 45 mile journey. THANK YOU ICEMULE!
When people ask about my Ice Mule backpack cooler, that's my response. "It's the best thing ever." My wife and I pack a cooler at least once a week and all weekend long every weekend with youth sports, beach visits, boating, camping, and all the other stuff we do on a regular basis. Having the ability to carry all our stuff backpack style and have it stay cold as long as it does . . . it's invaluable! It's one of the most practical outdoor products I've ever come across simply because of what it is and how well it works. I don't worry about it leaking or sweating in my car, my boat, or anywhere else. It doesn't even sweat, so it's perfect for the beach or campsite because you don't leave with a sweaty cooler with sand or dirt crusted to it. I literally have not used another cooler in the last 6 months after getting my Ice Mule. The best inventions are always the simplest ones. Nothing complicated about this cooler. It just works.
Very excited to find a quality backpack cooler after years of disappointing purchases. I decided to go with the XL Pro for the durability and size to carry various sized items which doesn't disappoint. Ice Mule does a very nice job providing instructions to get the best out of your cooler. The packaging is first class and they even threw in a koozie. The seals and straps are put together very well and you can tell the cooler is built with heavy duty, quality material. The straps are very comfortable and easily adjustable. The reason I'm giving the cooler 4 stars instead of 5 stars are minor but I think are important for those who are considering purchasing the cooler. I've found that when using the cooler, it becomes somewhat of a burden opening and closing the cooler while keeping ice quality. When initially packed with the cooler inflated, it is difficult to open then close without deflated and it is CRITICAL that the cooler is inflated (insulated air barrier between internal and external skin) to maximize effectiveness. Without inflating, I found that the ice (bagged ice) melts much quicker and the cooler will sweat. Refrigerator ice last much longer than bagged ice but that's not always an option. Suggestions for the next generation is to provide a small hand pump built into a shoulder strap as opposed to blowing into the air valve to fill the air insulation chamber. Another wish is to have a built-in pocket on the opposite shoulder strap for a place to put your keys, wallet or phone. I'm currently putting them in a zip lock bag in the cooler. Overall, I'm very pleased with XL Pro and have gotten tons of positive comments. I plan to order a smaller Ice Mule when the XL is just too large for the job. Can't wait to take it to the beach in a couple of weeks.
